25th Annual Silver Jubilee Green Turtle Yacht Club Fishing Tournament

The 25th Annual Silver Jubilee Green Turtle Club Fishing Tournament will be held May 8-11, 2012.

The 24th Annual Green Turtle Fishing Tournament was competitive, plus all the participants enjoyed clear skies and only one day of fairly rough seas. Jesse Bollinger II, who owns the Equity VIII, a 55' Viking out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, won first place in the tournament with 416 points. Gary Sullivan, one of Equity's anglers, released a blue marlin on the third day of the tournament to put them in the lead. Barbie Doll, a 44' Rybovich, owned by Ken Boyer, was runner up with 210 points. Roy Cronacher released a sailfish the second day of fishing to help the Barbie Doll secure their 2nd place in the tournament. Victory Lap, a 56' Viking, owned by John O'Steen of Vero Beach, Florida, who won the fishing tournament last year, won the non-billfish division with 127 points and came in third place overall. Dan Simmons, also, of Vero Beach, Florida, on the Victory Lap did boat the heaviest dolphin of the tournament, 32 pounds. Cheryl Robinson, from Pensacola, Florida, won the top lady angler prize fishing aboard the Wolverine III, a 47' Viking, captained by Walter Robinson.

The tournament participants contributed almost $700 for The Abaco Cancer Society. This society assists over 60 Bahamians in the area for cancer treatment on a yearly basis. They provide individuals with transportation and other associated costs.
